Julia Hill is an environmental program manager who focuses on community-based conservation. In her current role with Austin Parks & Recreation, she manages parkland stewardship programs across the city, building partnerships with community organizations and volunteers to advance conservation and climate equity goals in Austin’s green spaces. As Producer and Advisor with One Health Productions, she brings that same hands-on approach to international conservation storytelling. She coordinates documentary field productions, including The Great Call, filmed across West Kalimantan, Borneo, and the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia, and supports fundraising and grant work for wildlife conservation and environmental justice projects.

Julia’s nonprofit experience spans continents and disciplines. As Global Events Manager with One Tree Planted, she directed reforestation events across six continents and launched a micro-grants program to support community-led restoration projects. At MICRO Museums, she led hands-on science education for teenage docents in New York. Her academic research took her into the field in Cambodia and Indonesia, where she studied community-based conservation and the illegal wildlife trade. She holds an M.S. in Primate Conservation from Oxford Brookes University and a B.A. in Anthropology and Biology from Indiana University. As WINGS’ Flag Carrier Program Manager, Julia will support Flag Carriers in reaching their research and expedition goals, drawing on her own field experience to help guide the next generation of women explorers.
